Exploring Greensboro

The last few months have been spent tirelessly exploring Greensboro, North Carolina looking for places to film.  Why is this?  Besides it being amazing to truly learn and experience my hometown, I have recently been motivated to create a video that shows the change over time that has happened to this quickly expanding city.

Greensboro, located in the northern center of North Carolina, sits tucked in between the Blue Ridge Mountains in the west and the coast 150 miles to the east.  This has created an overall terrain which is supportive of lakes, rivers, and enough elevation change for a range of habitats.  The last few years that I have been hiking and exploring Greensboro, I have discovered that I can be less than a mile from a busy road, and yet in the middle of an old growth forest filled with wildlife and beautiful scenery.  The same river which created waterfalls and natural habitats for wildlife north of town, also flow into reservoirs, factories, and other industries that power the lifestyle of humans.  As human population in the city grows, some of these beautiful natural habitats will be forever changed by humans.

I am not creating this video to be negative toward humans, but only to document the city how I see it.  This is a city that contains many extraordinary creatures, beautiful landscapes, uplifting people, and creative architectures.  I have already been filming for two months, and hope to have the video fully produced by the beginning of Summer.  With the help of filming partner Nic Robertson, we will continue hiking hundreds of pounds of photography equipment across the city, in hopes of creating one of the most fluid, vivid, and high definition videos Greensboro has ever seen.  The video will feature a range of timelapses, motorized slider movements, underwater video, and aerial videography.  It will also have narration performed by Seth Kincaid.

Nic and I hugely appreciate the support from friends and family, as we have been very busy filming this video.  If you see us walking around town be sure to say hi!

Below are a few video screen captures from some of the places that will be featured in the video.
